Workplace Wellness Pays Off. Employers -Enroll now in the 2021 Free Workplace Collaborative!

Across Rice County, local employers are working with Rice County Public Health, through the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP), to create sustainable workplace wellness initiatives. SHIP staff collaborate with employers and connect them to the tools and technical assistance they need to be successful.

Through this collaborative process, employers learn about strategies that support breastfeeding moms, help employees quit smoking, eat healthier, be active and manage stress (including COVID-19 stress). This process is a great opportunity for employers to learn what other businesses are doing locally to support a healthier workforce.

The most recent Rice County collaborative included 15 workplaces. According to a survey of the participants, 88% agreed or strongly agreed that SHIP advanced their wellness efforts.

“The SHIP program kept me motivated and on track to pursue my organization’s well-being goals. I learned a lot from the other employers and left every meeting with new ideas. We used our grant dollars to help achieve our Minnesota Department of Health Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace designation,” said Becky Farren, RN Employee Health Coordinator Northfield Hospital + Clinics.

Because adults spend so much of the day at work, policies and efforts that support employee wellness can play a big role in keeping workers healthy and preventing chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

Whether your organization has a wellness initiative in place or is new to this type of work, we invite you to learn more and participate in this free workplace wellness collaborative. Any size employer is welcome. At this time the collaborative is planning to meet virtually.  To get started please RSVP by Dec. 31 to Rice County Public Health SHIP Coordinator, Josh Ramaker at 507-332-5911 or
